Making New Year’s Resolutions that Stick

TIMING: “Fake it ‘til you make it”. Yes, you have to feel ready, but there is no time like the present. The sooner you get started, the sooner you will see results. It is ok to take small steps towards big goals. Start exercising for 10 minutes a day and work your way up from there. Add more water to your diet, or add some fruit to flavor your water so that you drink more.

 VISUALIZATION: “Do something today that your future self will thank you for “. Imagine what life would look life if you lost 10 lbs, stopped smoking, ate better, exercised more. Think about how good it would fee to make positive changes for yourself and your loved ones. Imagine you are already making those changes, and live your life that way.

SUPPORT: “I get by with a little help from my friends”. It is hard, and not as fun, to go it alone. Instead of trying to do it all by yourself, why not enlist the support of friends, family, support groups, or Hygeia Integrated Health LLC. It takes time and patience to make great changes. With the right support, you can understand what motivates and triggers your behaviors so you can change what needs to be changed.
